These crispy Chicken Samosas are filled with a flavorful spiced chicken mixture and wrapped in homemade samosa sheets for the perfect crunch. Ideal for Iftar or tea-time snacks, you can make and freeze them in advance for Ramadan. Follow this easy recipe to enjoy fresh, homemade samosas anytime!


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 onion (medium size) chopped)

  • 300 g chicken (boiled & shredded)

  • 1 tsp red chili powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp black pepper powder

  • 2-3 green chilies (chopped)

  • 3 green onions

  • 3 tbsp fresh coriander (chopped)

  • Water or Slurry for binding

  • Oil for frying

Directions

  • For the filling
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  • Add the chopped onions and saut until they become translucent.
  • Add the boiled and shredded chicken. Stir well.
  • Mix in the red chili powder, salt, coriander powder, garam masala, and black pepper powder. Stir to combine.
  • Add the green chilies and green onions. Mix well and let the filling cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and set the filling aside to cool completely.
  • Shape and Fill the Samosas
  • Take the homemade samosa sheets and form a cone shape.
  • Apply a small amount of slurry (a paste made from flour and water) along the edges to seal the cone.
  • Fill each samosa with 1 tbsp of the cooled chicken mixture.
  • Seal the top securely using slurry.
  • Freeze the Samosas (Optional)
  • If you want to store the samosas for later, place them in an airtight container and freeze them for 1-2 months.
  • Fry the Samosas
  • Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the samosas into the oil.
  • Fry them until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes per batch.
  • Remove the samosas from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve
